Ruskin Apothecary was set up by Nathaniel Hughes BSc PGDip MNIMH, and is set in an idyllic location near Stroud in Gloucestershire, next to Ruskin Mill, a beautiful lake and ecologically rich valley.
The Apothecary is a real multi-purpose space, offering professional and skilled herbal medicine, naturopathic healing (in a variety of forms and styles) and workshops including herbal medicine and healing classes (from workshops for 4 year olds to one year long herb classes!).
Our aim is summed up by the project ‘One Mile Pharmacoepia’ – to create as much of the medicine we use as locally as possible, whilst simultaneously re-educating people of the immense value and potential of the plants growing around us and the unlimited potential of our own consciousnesses.
Our ethos is based around a Buddhist model of mindfulness practice, we are pro holistic science as one mode of enquiry amongst many and we deeply value the traditional knowledge of our ancestors. The focus of all practice and teaching is to meet you and your needs, rather than applying an abstracted or idealised model of medical practice.
