Parkinsons
Since June 2009 I’ve been working with the Parkinson’s Recovery Project, an incredible work of research and dedication by Janice Walton-Hadlock in which through a process of healing old-unresolved injuries (using Yin Tui Na) and re-associating with the heart and feelings, people with Parkinsons’s appear to enter a gradual process of recovery.
I am not currently taking on any new patients to work with this approach due to being fully commited with existing patients, but I am happy to give a session for carers and patients together for them to practice and experience yin tui na and ask any questions.
In October 2008 I visited the Yin Tui Na centre in Amsterdam to experience the way Chris Ellis and Jennnifer Spain work. They are both from California where the project started and the Amsterdam base is their connection to Europe. Since returning, I have felt confirmed that this work and the way of working resonates entirely with the way my practice has been evolving naturally (working increasingly with gentle body-work in preference to a more ‘verbal’ based way of listening to the body/self).
If you are interested in being supported I strongly (well - absolutely actually) urge you to read the book published by the organisation, which is available as a free download, before asking to start treatments. The book is an amazing read, charting Janice’s development of the work and numerous case studies from her practice. If you are new to all this, the book will take a good few weeks to read and process, but is well worth it.
As explained in the book, I would reinforce that I am confident and happy to support your process of healing working with this system, but I am not ‘healing’ you - only you can do that.
NB: The process outlined in the book is not suitable for people already taking anti-parkinsons medication or those who have taken it for more than 3 weeks.
